Meaning:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teachers, uncles, fathers, sons, as well as grand-uncles, maternal uncles, fathers-in-law, brothers-in-law and other relatives are here. Although they would like to kill me, I don’t want to attack them, O Madhusoodana. When I won’t do so even if it would win me all the three worlds, what to speak of winning just this earth?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explanation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We notice here that Arjuna essentially repeated his argument that he does not want to attack anyone in this war, since anyone he attacks is bound to be either a friend or a relative. But why was he repeating his arguments? Note that in each verse, he addressed Shri Krishna directly, hoping to get some sort of support or endorsement from him. But, Shri Krishna did not say one word, since he wanted to wait till Arjuna’s delusionary outburst ended. In emotion, it is not necessary every statement given by person is outburst from his emotion only, when he does not get support from listner, he may give statement more emotional, moral or ethical to impress him under dual personality. It is weakest point  of a person, to get support from other person\/s for his action as justified or correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anybody who is becoming sorrowful and depression like that broken gramaphone record, they will repeat it. Extremely difficult to handle, If a person has to face a situation the only thing is the person must be prepared before any such tragedy comes. Actually when the problem comes, it is very difficult and uncontrolable. That is why they say, have the Lord, have devotion, have all those things before hand itself. Always preparation is better than shock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It look as though compassion, it is very difficult to distinguish what is attachment and what is compassion. We may think that Arjuna has compassion. In attachment, a person’s vision of Dharma and Adharma gets clouded. Compassion’s greatness however much it comes; however much a person is disturbed by compassion, he will not violate Dharma. Similarly, here also, if at all Arjuna shows compassion, it is a misplaced compassion and therefore it is a problem of R\u0101ga\u1e25 alone. More details we will be seeing later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twice in this verse, Arjun used the word api which means \u201ceven though.\u201d He addresses Shree Krishna as Madhusudan, the killer of a demon named Madhu and says, \u201cO Madhusudan, I do not wish to kill them even though I am aware they are eager to do so.\u201d Again, he says, \u201cEven though for the sake of victory over the three worlds we fight, what joy would we get by killing our own folks?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second verse about not desiring victory in the three worlds, Arjuna tried to justify his retreat from fighting by wrapping his cowardice in a cloak of fake large-heartedness. The ego can sometimes be more cunning than any politician. It is sign of dual characteristics of any individual personality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
