Whereas our army, defended by Bheeshma’s strength, is infinitely capable of victory, the Pandava army defended by Bheema’s strength, seems limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commander -in-chief of the Kaurava army was Grandsire Bheeshma. Apart from being an exceptional warrior, he had an extraordinary boon. He could choose the time of his death, this meant he was practically invincible. Duryodhana felt that under Bheeshma\u2019s command their army was undefeatable. Whereas, the Pandava army was secured by Duryodhana\u2019s sworn enemy, Bheema. Hence, he started comparing his Grandfather Bheeshma\u2019s strength with his cousin Bheema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vinaash kale vipreet buddhi as the proverb goes, which means that when the end draws near, egoistic people indulge in vainglory instead of being humble in evaluating their situation. So having enumerated the important people of both the armies, now Duryodhana wants to find out the relative strength, who is superior and who is inferior. And according to Duryodhana’s judgement, Who is superior? He says Pandava sainyam is superior and our kaurava sainyam is inferior. This is his judgement indicating he is now tremendously frightened and therefore he goes nearer to Dro\u1e47a and he says that means insufficient. It is weaker. It is incapable of overpowering the Pandava sainyam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bheeshma was also aware that in this holy war, along with all the great warriors of the world the Supreme Lord Krishna Himself was present. Lord Krishna was with the Pandavas, which meant Dharma was on their side, and no power in the entire universe could make the side of Adharma win. Bheeshma joins the army of kaurav being binding himself with Hasthinapur through his oath which he had taken to fulfill his father’s pleasure for his fathar’s marriage with fisher’s daughter Satyawati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duryodhana continued to boast about his army in this final comment to Drona. Note that Drona did not reply to any of Duryodhana’s statements at any point in the conversation. His silence indicated either anger, disappointment or knowing the inevitable that his army was doomed to failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
