Shree Krishna says that the mystery of the a\u015bhvatth tree is not easy to understand for the embodied souls, as they are deeply entangled in the continuous cycle of life and death. The buds of the tree, which are the objects of the senses lure them into developing desires. Ignorant souls keep working hard towards fulfilling these desires, which only keep increasing and nourish the tree to grow further. When such desires are fulfilled, they return with double the intensity forming greed. But when obstructed it causes anger, which fogs the intellect and further deepens the ignorance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here Krishna conveys some of very important technical information and that is when you try to probe into this universe and this life, and try to understand what this creation is, and what is this life; when did it begin; when will it end; the more you try to probe into this creation; the more mysterious it becomes. So, the whole creation is a mystery; a m\u0101ya. So superficially seeing, it will appear as though you can understand the creation well. Scientists have been thinking that they will have clear explanation to every phenomenon. They are all working for a theory of everything. It is called the TOE. They want a theory of everything.<\/strong> And they solve certain mysteries and find that those smaller mysterious are replaced by further deeper mysteries. And therefore, Krishna says here; Asya r\u016bpam na upalabhyate. r\u016bpam means what svar\u016bpam or the nature of the universe is not comprehensible. It is anirvacan\u012byam. The details we will get in Mandukya k\u0101rika. In the Upani\u1e63ad class, very technical analysis of what is m\u0101ya and what is anirvacan\u012byam? Here casually hints at that. More you probe, the more mysterious it becomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of us love to see the image of planet earth from space. The majesty of that image captured by countless satellites over the years never fails to attract us. But without those satellites, we would never know that the earth looks like it does, because we did not have the means to see the big picture by ourselves. Or take a factory worker employed in a multibillion-dollar multinational. All he gets to see is his machine for eight to ten hours a day. Except the CEO and a few other senior people, no one has the big picture view of the complex organization available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, Shri Krishna says that most of us do not have the big picture view of our existence in this world. We simply live out our lives in the endless chain of attraction to sense objects, desire, action, result and further desire. To lift us out of this narrow view of life, he very compassionately gives us the illustration of the tree of samsaara in the previous two shlokas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He very clearly states that no matter who we are, whether rich or poor, educated or uneducated, fit or sick, we are all entangled in this upside-down tree of samsaara. We never see our existence as it really is. We do not see its beginning, middle or end. It is in fact, a gigantic illusion that has been given reality due to the long-standing ignorance of our true nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, this mysterious universe is sams\u0101ra. Never try to understand this. You only try to remove the sams\u0101ra by going to the root; you get rid of the sams\u0101ra. You need not know the details, only you have to get rid. How to get out of this vicious terrible uncontrollable, unpredictable sams\u0101ra chakra? And Krishna is going to talk about four methods or four disciplines; not optional but all the four are important. First one is vair\u0101gyam. The second one is Brahma vic\u0101ra, the third discipline is \u015bara\u1e47agathi\u1e25. Surrender or devotion and the fourth up\u0101ya is sad- g\u016b\u1e47\u0101h. Developing a healthy refined mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
