You are Vayu, Yama, Agni, Varuna, Shashaanka, Prajaapati and Prapitaamaha. Salutations to you a thousand times. Salutations to you, again and again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explanation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arjuna understood that the source of nature\u2019s power was none other than Ishvara. He saw Ishvara in all the primal forces of nature and listed their presiding deities: Vayu, the lord of wind who sustains all living beings. Yama, the lord of death who ensures justice for everyone. Agni, the lord of fire who provides energy to all beings. Varuna, the lord of life-giving water. Shashaanka, the moon, who nourishes all plants and herbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How could Ishvara manifest as all these deities? Because Ishvara functions as Prajaapati, also known as Lord Brahmaa, creator of the universe who brought all the deities into existence. Vedic texts refer to Brahmaa as Hiranyagarbha, the golden womb that brought forth the universe. But Ishvara existed even before Brahmaa was created, he is the Prapitaamaha, the great- grandfather, the original person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should know the logic behind it also; what is the logic; in the seventh chapter itself Krishna has introduced that Bhagav\u0101n is the k\u0101ra\u1e47am; and the whole creation is the k\u0101ryam; and we know the fundamental law that the k\u0101ra\u1e47am alone appears in the form of manifold k\u0101ryam. Cause alone with different names and forms appears as various effects; just as one gold alone with different n\u0101m\u0101s and r\u016bp\u0101s appears as different forms of ornaments. There are no ornaments separate from gold; there are no furniture separate from wood; there are no waves and oceans separate from water; generalising, there are no products separate from cause. And the cause being God; there are no creations other than God. Therefore God alone is in the form of \u0101k\u0101\u015ba, Agni, v\u0101yu\u1e25, \u0101pa\u1e25, that logic you should remember. It is given in one particular section of Brahm\u0101 s\u016btra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So this logic is a powerful adik\u0101ra\u1e47am; tat ananyatvam ara\u1e41bha \u015babdadibhya\u1e25. It is called \u0101rambhan\u0101di k\u0101ra\u1e47a ny\u0101y\u0101. So what is the logic; Effects do not exist separate from cause. Or to put in another language; cause alone appears as manifold effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hence, in this verse, Arjun says that Shree Krishna is also V\u0101yu, Yamr\u0101j, Agni, Varu\u1e47, Chandra, and Brahma. Similarly, the celestial gods have their distinct personalities and unique set of duties to discharge in the administration of the world. However, the same one God sitting in all of them manifests the special powers they possess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we are humbled, when we come in the presence of someone who is infinitely more capable than we are, we could have one of two reactions. If we have no respect for that person, we could harbour feelings of resentment and anger. But in this case, Arjuna was humbled by Ishvara for whom he had the utmost reverence. Knowing that the source of the universe was on his side, all he could do was repeatedly prostrate and offer his salutations. Knowing that it was Ishvara who was doing his work all along, Arjuna\u2019s completely surrendered his pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
