As you have spoken about yourself, so is it, O supreme Ishvara. I wish to see your divine form, O supreme person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explanation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arjun addresses Shree Krishna as the best person because no other personality is equal to him. Often scholars, basing their opinion upon dry intellectual analysis, have difficulty in accepting the concept of God as a person. They wish to perceive God as only an impersonal light, without attributes, virtues, qualities and pastimes. However, when we tiny souls possess a personality, then why should we deny a personality to the Supreme Lord? Not only can he have a personality, but he also has the best personality, and Supreme Divine Personality. The difference between our personality and God\u2019s personality is that he is not only a perfect person; he also has his impersonal all- pervading aspect, which is devoid of attributes and form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parame\u015bvara means the supreme Lord, the controller; not only the one who has created the world; but the one who sustains the world by maintaining the physical laws of the creation. Therefore, parama \u012a\u015bvara\u1e25; stiti k\u0101ra\u1e47abhuth\u0101; you are. Not only that; you are puru\u1e63\u014dttama also; puru\u1e63\u014dttama means the Supreme Lord; the greatest Lord; the word puru\u1e63\u014dttama has got a philosophical significance also; which Krishna himself will teach in the 15th chapter. In fact, the entire chapter is titled puru\u1e63\u014dttama yoga; there Krishna will point out puru\u1e63\u014dttama is nirgu\u1e47a brahmna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When someone describes the plot and special effects of the latest Hollywood summer blockbuster to us, and our curiosity and interest for that movie increases, we reach a point when we say \u201cI want to see that movie right now, and I want to see it on a large IMAX screen\u201d. Why does that happen? Of the five sense organs, the organ of sight is the dearest to us. As they say, \u201ca picture is worth a thousand words\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, Arjuna\u2019s curiosity towards Shri Krishna had reached its peak at this point. That is why he asked Shri Krishna, who was the \u201cavatar\u201d or incarnation of Ishvara, to reveal his divine form that was described in the last shloka of the previous chapter. How magnificent would that form be, if this entire universe was sustained by only a fraction of Ishvara, and if all of the divine expressions were contained in Ishvara. In addition to the might and grandeur of this form, Arjuna also wanted to see how everything originated, existed and dissolved within Ishvara, and finally, how everything was Ishvara in essence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, seening GOD by eyes or listing about the the GOD has created thrill, excitement for the person who is thoroughly devoted to the GOD and pure from the heart. He must have sufficient knowledge which became cause of thrill for the same. Ahilya waits standstill for years together for Rama for his darshan, Sabri spends entire life for darshan of Rama for a few time. But whereas Darshan of Lord Rama to Rawan and Lord Krishana to Kans did not impact of both as both Ravan and Kans were full of impurity of Raag – dwesh, hate and greediness, even though both are knowledgeable personality as compared to Ahilya and Sabri. Listing of music give much more pleasure to a person who is ready to listen and knowing the music. Therefore, when Arjuna has listened the GOD is cause of everything and everything is GOD, his excitement increases for seeing GOD from bottom of his heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We call something divine when it is endowed with the attributes of knowledge, lordship, power, prowess and brilliance. Arjuna put in a request to Shri Krishna to see that that form, where it is possible to have this vision of many in one. However, the sincere Arjuna did not order to command Shri Krishna to show that form. He qualified his request with a great deal of humility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In many other cultures, sacred means obtaining in one part of the creation; and outside the temple, everything is secular; but for a Hindu or for a vaidhika, there is nothing called secular, everything is sacred; eating is p\u016bja; remember we are doing pooja daily; eating is p\u016bja, brushing the teeth is p\u016bja; sn\u0101nam is p\u016bja, everything that I do is pooja and that will come only if I remember that I am always in association with, in the presence of the Lord. How can I have that ai\u015bvara\u1e43 r\u016bpam? the dar\u015banam, what you call, samparka or contact with that vi\u015bvar\u016bpa \u012a\u015bvara; you should help me. This is Arjuna’s request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, there is a discrepancy, a gap between what I know and what I am. My intellectual personality and emotional personality is not well harmonised and therefore you should help me in harmonisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
