Arjuna said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of compassion for me, you have spoken about the supreme secret known as the knowledge of the self. By those statements, my delusion has been destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explanation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We begin the eleventh chapter with Arjuna\u2019s words. He recalls the root cause of his panic attack from the first chapter which is moha or delusion which caused confusion between his duty as a warrior and as a family member. He now says that his delusion has been dispelled. How did that happen? It is only because Shri Krishna revealed the knowledge of the self, Adhyaatma vidyaa, to Arjuna, the answer to the question \u201cwho am I?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, aya\u1e43 mama moha\u1e25; moha\u1e25 is two-fold; (1) dharma- adharma moha\u1e25; and (2) \u0101tma- ana\u0101tma moha\u1e25; confusion regarding what is right and what is wrong; ethical conflict; and philosophical confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Arjuna understood his true nature as the self, the aatmaa, the eternal essence, he came to know that the self does not kill or be killed, it is neither the doer of action or the enjoyer of the results. He then realized that even if his body died, or his body killed another body, nothing would happen to the eternal essence in each of those bodies. Given the power of this knowledge to destroy the biggest delusion about who he was, he terms it \u201cparamam\u201d or supreme. And since it requires a sincere student and a rare teacher, he terms it \u201cguhyam\u201d or secret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, we may think that there was something special in Arjuna that qualified him to receive this supreme knowledge. Arjuna was humble enough to acknowledge that it was purely out of compassion that Shri Krishna showered his grace upon him and gave him this knowledge. Only through the grace and compassion of Ishvara and a qualified guru can one receive this knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here in first shlok Arjun summarised his understanding after getting into confusion as per chapter one says “vishad yog”. So, he clearify his understanding in two shlok before lord krishana. In first shlok he clearify what he understands from chapter 2 to six and in next shlok, he clearifies what he understands from chapter 7 to 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He says that the teaching was given by you; vaca\u1e25 means the words of wisdom; was given to me; was imparted to me by you and for what purpose. Madanugrah\u0101ya purely for blessing me, saving me from the problem of sorrow, which was described in the first chapter; And not only it is the most supreme sacred holy words; guhyam; and they are the greatest secret also; which is not easily or ordinarily available in the world; because such words can come from only j\u00f1\u0101nis; and j\u00f1\u0101nis themselves are rare in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And G\u012bt\u0101 is a unique teaching which is dealing with both the ethical conflict as well as philosophical confusion. Normally the v\u0113da p\u016brva bh\u0101ga is meant to resolve ethical conflict; v\u0113da antha bh\u0101ga is meant to resolve philosophical confusion. G\u012bt\u0101 is a unique \u015b\u0101str\u0101 which deals with ethical conflict, as well as philosophical confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And therefore Arjuna says, I am getting clearer and clearer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another aspect of the teaching was Ishvara\u2019s involvement with the universe. Arjuna highlights it in the next shloka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
