But does that mean that the sins remain hidden somewhere? In this shloka, he says that all sins or karmaas get destroyed with knowledge. Just as fire has the capability to burn fuel in the form of wood or coal into ashes, so does knowledge totally destroy karmaas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>S\u0101str\u0101 talks about three types of karma phalam; one is sancitam karma phalam; i.e. pu\u1e47yam and p\u0101pam acquired in the past janmas; the second is Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25 karma phalam; that means that portion of the past karma which has matured in the present janma; and therefore ready to fructify. Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25 karma is also sa\u00f1citam only, the only difference is Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25 karma is ready and the third one is \u0101g\u0101mi karma which we acquire through the present actions. These are the three karmas which are responsible for punarapi jananam; punarapi mara\u1e47am, cyclic process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Karmaas accumulate in our psyche due to ignorance of our true identity. Now, knowledge and ignorance are mutually exclusive. One cannot remain when the other is present. Take an example from early school. Once you what the addition symbol &#8220;+&#8221; does, you no longer get confused when you see a question on addition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So when knowledge comes, ignorance is destroyed, as well as karmaas that were created a result of ignorance. And when the sense of doership and enjoyership vanishes, then situations do not cause joy or sorrow. No more karmaas are accumulated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here Krishna says all the karmas are destroyed; sa\u00f1citam is destroyed; \u0101g\u0101mi is avoided and Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25 is exhausted. Without being affected by Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25; remember the example of oil being applied in the knife; or you can take, you have got gloves in the hand, with which you touch a live wire; it does not give you a shock, because you are protected. Similarly Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25 is not destroyed but j\u00f1\u0101nam insulates the j\u00f1\u0101ni from the Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25. That means Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25 produces the result but j\u00f1\u0101ni&#8217;s mind continues to be samam, in spite of favourable and unfavourable conditions; the events do not change but there is a change in the response to the Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25; and therefore Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25 karma is as good as destroyed; because it cannot affect a j\u00f1\u0101ni. So sancitam is destroyed; \u0101g\u0101mi is avoided and Pr\u0101rabdha\u1e25 is as though destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now in respect of flame of the G\u012bt\u0101 wisdom you have got, we say that until knowledge stablises, continue to study from a particular \u0101c\u0101rya; or a particular parampara; otherwise one may get confused; listening too many people or reading many types of book, can create confusion; until the knowledge becomes clear, confine to \u015bastra and also the acharya; and any doubt comes, you clarify, the fire becomes well kindled and thereafterwards you read any book, you will be able to understand it properly, it will not create any doubt at all. Otherwise everything will appear to be right also; and everything will appear to be wrong also. So what has happened; confusion. So, therefore, samiddha\u1e25 agni\u1e25 well kindled by \u015brava\u1e47a manana nidhidh\u0101yasana; in the same way, jnana agni, the well kindled fire of knowledge, sarva karmani bhasmas\u0101t kurute; it destroys all the karmas; reduces them to ashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now what is the difference between the papam in the previous verse and&nbsp; karma in this verse? The difference is in the previous verse papa refers only to p\u0101pa karmas, whereas in this verse, by using the word karma, Krishna wants to say, not&nbsp; only papa karmas are destroyed, ultimately even pu\u1e47ya karmas are also destroyed; ultimate even pu\u1e47ya karmas also fall within samsara only. Ultimately speaking, even pu\u1e47ya karmas come under sams\u0101ra because pu\u1e47ya karmas lead to what? it takes jeev to Heven. Hell or Heven both are equal unless you get Moksha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this manner, Shri Krishna continues to praise knowledge in this shloka and the following two
