What is action and what is inaction? Seers are deluded in this regard. To you, I will explain that action, by knowing which you will gain liberation from this inauspicious (nature of samsaara).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we continue to move forward in the Gita, we comes across milestones where Shri Krishna takes us from one level of understanding to a more advanced level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is proper action and what is improper action? This is difficult to determine even for the great \u1e5bi\u1e63his and the celestial gods. Dharma has been created by God himself, and he alone is its true knower.\u201d Lord Krishna says to Arjun that he shall now reveal to him the esoteric science of action and inaction through which he may free himself from material bondage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is said that one cannot ascertain the ways of religion simply by imperfect experimental knowledge. Actually, the principles of religion can only be laid down by the Lord himself.  No one can manufacture a religious principle by imperfect speculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to get out of tension caused by your duties and responsibilities in life, you should know exactly what is the nature of karma. And do not think that it is an easy subject, even great philosophers have analysed this and after long analysis they have come to wrong conclusion;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He says philosophers; great thinkers; even great thinkers are confused with regard to this subject matter and what is that subject matter what exactly is action; and what exactly is actionlessness; or inaction. So what is action; what is inaction; even scholars are deluded. He said this discussion is not merely of academic interest alone, this is not an arm-chair philosophy subject, but it has got a practical value in life also.And what is the practical value, by gaining this knowledge, you will get freedom; so you will be freed; you will be released from what; from all types of pains in your mind; a\u015bubham means ama\u1e45galam; ama\u1e45galam means pains or sorrows; caused by anxiety, tension, worry, and jealousy also.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J\u00f1\u0101ni is one who is the master of the situation; aj\u00f1\u0101ni is one who is mastered by, who is enslaved by the situation; and therefore by gaining this knowledge, you are released from the tyranny of the surrounding and the people, you are like a thermostat, unaffected by both karma, as well as the karma phala; You can fight the Mahabharatha war, coolly. you will be freed from samsara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The principles of dharma cannot be determined by mental speculation. Even intelligent persons become confused in the maze of apparently contradictory arguments presented by the scriptures and the sages. For example, the Vedas recommend non-violence. Accordingly in the Mahabharat, Arjun wishes to follow the same course of action and shun violence but Shree Krishna says that his duty here is to engage in violence. If duty varies with circumstance, then to ascertain one\u2019s duty in any particular situation is a complex matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One must follow in the footsteps of great authorities like Brahma, Siva, Narada, Manu, the Kumaras, Kapila, Prahlada, Bhishma, Sukadeva Gosvami, Yamaraja, Janaka, and Bali Maharaja. By mental speculation one cannot ascertain what is religion or self-realization. Therefore, out of causeless mercy to His devotees, the Lord explains directly to Arjuna what action is and what inaction is. Only action performed in Krishna consciousness can deliver a person from the entanglement of material existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let us recap what we have learned so far about action and inaction. Action or karma as defined by Shri Krishna is any activity performed with a selfish motive. Inaction or akarma is defined as any activity performed in a selfless manner. In other words, with a yajnya spirit. It is important to revise these definitions because Shri Krishna says that even intelligent people very easily get confused by this terminology, since action typically means any activity and inaction means absence of activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is this topic important? Unless our intellect fully understands and gets the conviction that we can achieve self- realization through performance of action, we will again and again fall prey to the wrong notion that we should renounce everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is evident in our daily lives. Whenever we feel pressure at our job, we start thinking about changing jobs. If we have to resolve a delicate issue impacting our friends or relatives, we may try to defer or avoid it altogether rather than addressing it. We have an inbuilt tendency to avoid performing actions, even though all our bodies can do is perform action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After long time only we know that we are taking for granted, we never enquired into; like the apple falling; still what we do; we eat immediately and give a burp. Only a rare scientist thinks that why should it fall down and not go down. Thus in life, many things we have taken for granted and one thing we have taken for granted is the nature of action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is action; and to whom does action belong. And our basic misconception is that I am doing all actions and Krishna wants to point out that Arjuna you are not doing any action at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, Shri Krishna wants us to have a thorough understanding of the nature of action so that it becomes a part of our life, than something that we just read about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
